FROCKTAIL PARTY IS BACK

THE FROCKTAIL PARTY IS BACK TO COMBINE HIGH FASHION AND FUN IN SUPPORT OF THE JDRF

Toronto’s fashion trendsetters are gearing up for the second annual Frocktail Party which returns to Toronto in November to raise money for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).  Last year’s inaugural event brought together over 500 Canadians, including fashion designers, celebrities and party goers for a stylish evening that raised over $23,000 dollars for the cause.  And this year’s party is not to be missed!

The Frocktail party is set for Friday November 12th at the sexy space of King West’s 99 Sudbury Glass Factory loft (www.99sudbury.ca) where guests will sip, shop and shake it up to raise money for this worthwhile cause.  This chic charitable soiree combines competitive shopping through an exciting silent dress auction with an evening of music and dancing.  In between dress bidding, guests can nibble Oliver and Bonacini hors d’oeuvres and sip cocktails by Svedka and beer by Labatt. And DJ Johnny Hockin of MTV is back this year to provide the soundtrack for the evening’s fashionable festivities.

This year’s auction will showcase frocks by some of Canada’s hottest fashion designers: David Dixon, Jeremy Laing, CALLA, Alex & Eli, Marika Brose, Jay Godfrey, Joeffer Caoc (donated through FASHION magazine) Lida Baday, Franke, Mackage, Jenny Bird, Andrew Majtenyi, Las Valentias, Aime Luxury, Dean Davidson and Peros have all graciously donated to the event.

The auction will also feature a piece hot of the Spring/Summer 2011 runway from LINE’s runway collection.  And headlining the auction is a Spring/Summer 2011 Greta Constantine gown worn by supermodel Coco Rocha.

Local celebrities including ET Canada’s Cheryl Hickey, MTV’s Jessi Cruickshank, MuchMusic’s Sarah Taylor,  celeb blogger Lainey Lui of LaineyGossip.com and CTV’s etalk, photographer Caitlin Cronenberg, The Society’s Ashleigh Dempster and Amanda Blakley and more have generously donated a favourite pre-loved gown for the cause. Toronto’s top boutiques have also raised the bar with donations from Want Boutique, The Room at the Bay, Nyla, Narwhal, French Connection and BCBG. A special thanks to FASHION magazine for their stunning contribution from their editor and chief Bernadette Morra’s coveted closet. All featured frocks will be auctioned for purchase with 100% of proceeds going to the JDRF – so let  the bidding begin!

Need a new look to accompany your new frock?  This year’s event will feature a salon from Schwarzkopf Professional who will be offering hair consultations and touch-ups from one of their leading hair professionals along side OPI Nails who will be providing complimentary mini manicures throughout the evening.  It’s glamour for a good cause!

INSPIRATION & BACKGROUND: The Frocktail Party started in 2009 by a close group of friends who wanted to make a difference: Catherine Pringle, Talor Wallace, Christina Perreault, Lorraine Forster, Jen Foster and Ali Reid all who have a long standing friendships with sisters Vanessa and Jessica Oliver — Vanessa was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at six-years old, and has lived with daily insulin injections, finger pokes, insulin pump and the worry of long-term complications every day for the past 25 years.  In their ten-year relationship with the Oliver family, the girls have seen Vanessa and the Oliver family face these challenges with courage, grace and a fierce commitment to supporting a quest for a cure.  With this, they were inspired to create the Frocktail Party to show love and gain support for this important cause. Fashion meets compassion!

SPONSORS, Svedka, Labatt, Smartwater, Oliver & Bonacini, OPI, Schwarzkopf, and 99 Sudbury.
